Claudia Obregon is a Marine Biologist who has loved being in the water since childhood, always swimming at her local swimming team in Colombia, then snorkeling, sailing and windsurfing. She became a Padi Scuba instructor and practiced for nearly 20 years, while she owned her Padi Dive Center in Cartagena, Colombia for 7 years.

During her college years Claudia was part of the Colombia team working with marine mammals, first with pink dolphins in the Amazon river for 3 years, then as a crew member of the Siben Expedition and later with an international research team, looking for whales and dolphins in the Caribbean and Pacific Colombian coast. Claudia was also a crew member of the Ansu, a sailing boat dedicated to the development of marine TV educational programs which created awareness about the beauty of the Colombian aquatic life

Always looking for ways to protect and conserve the world’s oceans and marine life, Claudia’s thesis was the creation of an artificial reef by sinking an small airplane in the Cartagena coast to study the arrival and settlement of the reef’s fish in the new habitat. Through her dive center, she constantly organized underwater clean-ups and installation of reef buoys to prevent tourist boats from anchoring on the reefs.

Claudia has lived in the United States for over 15 years, she is a mother of three, who has looked for ways to continue her activities in the water while remaining close to her kids. So instead of longer sailing and diving excursions, Claudia became a lifeguard, water fitness and swimming instructor in Key Largo with YMCA, and subsequently moved to Weston where she became a Swim America instructor. Each year she takes a different certification or course to stay informed and educated: Water Art Fitness Instructor, Swim University, Total Immersion, Swimming Teaching For Special Needs Children (Joe DiMaggio), Miracle Swimming Instructor (for adults afraid of the water), Master Swimmers Adults Learn to Swim program. She is also certified yearly in CPR and first aid.

As an avid learner of parental education Claudia also has a wealth of knowledge about learning processes that she constantly applies to her students while teaching them how to swim, such as redirecting children's behavior, and many more.

Claudia strives to bring her love  and passion for the water to everyone, no matter their age or feelings towards water, with hopes that each and every student will get to feel the power and magic of the water.

Water sustains life, relaxes the mind and spirit, provides a way to stay physically and mentally fit, and is an excellent medium to stimulate children, while helping them learn water safety and swimming skills.
